The Horn Section by sculptor Zach Coffin is a piece of public art commissioned by the City of Atlanta in 2007 and the installation was completed in 2008. A 45’ tall dedication to the jazz roots of the Castleberry Hill neighborhood in Atlanta. The 3 -14’ long horns at the top of the figurative structure are kinetic and move in unison as the wind blows much like the horn section of any jazz ensemble.
During a severe thunderstorm in 2016 the bells on one of the horn structures broke free and was removed. The City of Atlanta commissioned Building Four Fabrication to design and fabricate repairs the broken bells and add internal structure to all three of the sculptural horns. Now wholly restored, the Horn Section is once again flying high and proud.
