Project Overview

The historic Battle of Atlanta cyclorama painting, one of the largest paintings in the world, has been relocated to the Atlanta History Center and rescued from a dilapidated building in Atlanta’s GrantPark neighborhood. The painting dates back to 1886 and depicts the Civil War battle that was fought on July 22, 1864.

In addition to the 358 linear foot painting, a diorama of soldiers, train tracks, foliage, and artillery runs the length of the painting and blends in to the painting’s scenery to create the illusion that the painting is a 3D experience while viewing it from a platform. Building Four Fabrication is engineering and fabricating the 358 linear foot large diorama that surrounds the painting’s perimeter.

We are truly excited to be a part of the Atlanta History Center’s painstaking research and planning to restore this iconic artifact to its original spectacle.
